The cricketers club!
The ‘Lords Taverners’ is the world wide fund raising arm for the wonderful game of cricket. His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh is the ‘twelfth man’, and all funds raised through the ‘Taverners’ provides for funding for both disabled and disadvantaged cricketers - with a particular emphasis on junior cricket.
The Alice Springs ‘office’ of the Northern Territory branch of the ‘Lords Taverners' is situated at the ‘Overlanders Steakhouse’.
The ‘Australian’s Captains Bat’ provides the centrepiece of a growing memorabilia wall. Autographs of all Aussie Captains commencing with the great Sir Donald Bradman through to Mark Taylor grace the Bat. Naturally, we are waiting for Steve Waugh to call in for the Drovers Blowout!!!!
An autographed portrait of the late Sir Donald Bradman features prominently along side a cricket bat that has been signed by Aussie greats who have dined at this famous establishment. These include Darren Lehmann, Keith Stackpole, Eric Freeman, Max Walker, David Boon and Mark Waugh.
A signed cricket bat from the 1976-77 Ashes (England vs Australia) series has been donated by Australian character, singer, song writer, historian, world champion beer carton player, and bush cricketer, Dr Ted Egan AM MA.
